Day 5 – The Prayer Cafe “31 Day Challenge”

Day 5

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. – 1 John 5:14-15

“There is nothing more difficult than to ask. We will long and desire and crave and suffer, but not until we are at the extreme limit will we ask. A sense of unreality makes us ask. Have you ever asked out of the depths of moral poverty? “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God”, but be sure that you do lack wisdom. You cannot bring yourself up against Reality when you like. The next best thing to do if you are not spiritually real, is to ask God for the Holy Spirit on the word of Jesus Christ (see Luke 11:13). The Holy Spirit is the One Who makes real in you all that Jesus did for you.” – Oswald Chambers

Let us pray:

You invite us to come boldly to the throne of grace, and yet sometimes we do not bring ourselves to ask. We have known rejection, disappointment, pain, and abandonment. These waves of anguish make asking a very difficult thing.

Help us Lord to let go of these weights on our wings that we may soar in our asking. That we may soar in our submission and trust in you that you will take care of us and even receive our ask. Remind us of Your love. Remind us that You hear of us. Sometimes we don’t even believe You hear us which is another reason why we don’t bother asking.

We let ourselves get so in the way. Free us. We need You. We love You. This is our cry today.

Morning Leaders – Restoration

Morning Leaders. I have observed when a man has violated or hurt someone deeply, it is often another man who is used to restore and bring healing to the injured individual. I have also observed when a woman has violated or hurt someone deeply, it is often a woman who is used for restoration and healing. Why? I have no clue. Perhaps in the restoration it renews the humanity of the violator’s gender as well as the humanity of the injured. #Observations

The Biblical Remix – My Life

The Biblical Remix – My Life

Job 30:1-31 – http://bit.ly/biblicalremixmylife

Job was the epitome of swag.  He had property, money, and plenty of children.  Then in one day, it was all taken from him violently.

After that, dude then had painful sores show up all over his body.

His boys came through and saw how jacked up Job was.  They were speechless.  All they could do is sit with him for seven whole days and not say a word.

Job had it so bad, his skin would scab, turn black and fall on the floor.  His breath became atrocious, his wife was disgusted with him, he had fever, excessive thinness and was in pain day and night.

Even bums Job knew from back in the day, that nobody would listen to, they were now making fun of him and spitting in his face.

In the midst of his pain, this Mary J. Blige song played in his mind:

“If you looked in my life, and see what I’ve seen, You will see I’m so blue, Down and out crying everyday, Don’t know what to do or to say, If you looked in my life, and see what I’ve seen…”

Reflection:

Job’s life was jacked up.  And the same is true for some of us.  If we were honest, our emotional and/or spiritual lives are all over the place. We don’t have it all together.

Yet we persevere and stand.  There are some days we are limping, some days we are crawling.  Wherever you are, I encourage you to keep on the journey.  Don’t give up and throw the towel in.  Too many people have killed themselves or damaged their lives because they just “couldn’t take it anymore”.

Your life is precious.  Your journey is precious.  Keep the faith.  Don’t give up.  Stay fightin’.

PS – Job’s end was greater than his beginning. If you want to know how, peep Job 42.
